Production of qualified PP-R pipes must have strict requirements on raw materials and extrusion equipment. There are three kinds of PP special raw materials that can produce hot and cold water pipes:

1. Homopolymer PP is added into a certain amount of toughening aid by blending and granulating. This raw material is called PP-H.

2, using PP and PE block copolymerization, this raw material is called PP-B.

3. Using advanced gas phase copolymerization process, PE is randomly and uniformly polymerized in the molecular chain of PP. This raw material is called PP-R.

The screw barrel of the extruder used to produce PP-R plastic pipe is accurately calculated by an advanced computer model to determine the pressure distribution and melting rate of each section, so that it has good low temperature plasticizing ability. Ordinary single-screw extruders cannot be used to produce PP-R tubes.

At present, 70-80% of PP-R pipes on the market are not true PP-R pipes. In order to help users to initially identify the authentic PP-R pipe and fittings from the shape and feel.

Refer to the following identification methods:

(1) Product name: The product name of PP-R should be “polypropylene pipe for hot and cold water or PP-R pipe for hot and cold water”, with superfine particle modified polypropylene pipe (PP-R) or PP-R cold water pipe, PP-R hot water pipe, PP-E pipe, etc., all of which are pseudo-PP-R pipes.

(2) The product testing unit is a non-professional unit. The content of the test item does not match the content listed in the PP-R tube standard. The product recommendation department or product promotion department does not understand the PP-R product standard or the department without PP-R standard. The certificates issued are all pseudo-PP-R.

(3) The density of pseudo PP-R is slightly larger than PP-R.

(4) The PP-R tube is white matt or matt of other colors, and the pseudo PP-R tube is bright or bright.

(5) The PP-R tube is completely opaque, and the pseudo PP-R tube is slightly transparent or semi-transparent.

(6) The PP-R tube feels soft and the pseudo PP-R tube feels smooth.

(7) PP-R pipe landing sound is dull, pseudo PP-R pipe landing sound is relatively crisp.

The true PP-R pipe shall comply with the standard ISO/DIS 15874.2-1999 "Plastic pipe system for hot and cold water - PP part 2 pipe" pipe fittings shall comply with the standard ISO/DIS 15874.2-1999, "plastic pipes for cold and hot water" --PP Part III Pipe Fittings; the performance of pseudo PP-R pipes and fittings is not able to pass the above criteria. It should be noted that the service life of the pseudo PP-R tube is only 1-5 years, while the true life of the PP-R tube is more than 50 years.
